July/August 2008 Hi all, No I am not dead, I just could not think of anything to say the last couple of months that’s how boring the new music has been. Now however I can point out that the Melee song “Built to last” is finally getting airplay in the UK. (Remember you heard it hear first (ish)). Also I see that file sharing (or stealing as it would be known in any other industry) is back in the news. Personally I find this a tricky one. My moral side says stealing is bad. But on the other hand I think the way the download industry in the Uk is set up is no better. Look at the Artist of the Month list. How many songs by those artists can you download legally in the UK. Answer not many. So you either have to move to the US or by the CD. I have chosen the latter for obvious reasons but not via the brand new, “£15.99 US import” shop route. No, eBay my friends. I feel somewhat smug knowing that not only can I rip a CD that I own so nobody can complain but in most cases I pick them up for no more than a few pounds. Cheaper than the cost of downloading an album from iTunes. Put that in your pipe and smoke it BPI.
